Ori and the Will of the Wisps: A New Chapter Begins

No Rest for the Wicked: A Departure from Ori's Legacy

Slated for release this month, on April 19, No Rest for the Wicked marks a significant departure from the studio's previous works. The switch from platforming to a darker, fantasy-themed RPG gameplay has piqued the curiosity of many fans.

Why this sudden change in direction? It appears that Moon Studios felt that they had expressed all they wanted to through the first two Ori games. However, this does not necessarily mean the end of the series.

A Possible Return to Ori?

In a recent interview with Game Informer, Moon Studios co-founder Gennadiy Korol expressed that the Ori series’ story felt complete after Will of the Wisps. "I think we were pretty happy with where it left off,” Korol said. “I think we were able to complete the story of Ori. It’s a complete arc now; if you play both games, it’s a complete story. So it felt like the only way we would come back to Ori 3 is if we have more to say, more story to tell.”

Despite this, Thomas Mahler, the CEO and creative director, hinted at the possibility of a third Ori game. For now, though, all efforts are focused on No Rest for the Wicked. As fans of Ori and the Will of the Wisps know, the game concludes on a definitive note, leaving little room for speculation.
