Secret Level: An Anthological Animated Series

Published by Kenneth Shepard on Wednesday at 12:05 PM

One of the most surprising announcements at Gamescom's Opening Night Live was the reveal of "Secret Level," a 15-episode anthological animated series focusing on different video game properties, coming to Amazon on December 10.

Tim Miller, the director of Deadpool and co-founder of Blur Studio, is leading the project. Some pretty big franchises are attached to it.

Here are the 15 games featured in the series:

  • Armored Core: An episode based on FromSoftware's mech franchise. Keanu Reeves appears to play a role in this episode.
  • Concord: Firewalk Studios' hero shooter, featuring a Guardians of the Galaxy-esque world.
  • Crossfire: Smilegate Entertainment's tactical shooter, popular in various parts of the world.
  • Dungeons & Dragons: Features recognizable iconography from the multiverse, including dragons.
  • Exodus: Announced at The Game Awards in 2023, starring Matthew McConaughey.
  • Honor of Kings: TiMi Studio Group's MOBA, with over 100 heroes to choose from.
  • Mega Man: Capcom's iconic robot boy, featuring a somewhat realistic art style.
  • New World Aeternum: Amazon's MMO, featured prominently in the trailer.
  • Pac-Man: Bandai Namco's mascot character appears as a robot.
  • PlayStation Studios Games: Features multiple games from Sony's first-party studios, including God of War's Kratos and Ghost of Tsushima's Jin Sakai.
  • Sifu: Sloclap's martial arts beat 'em up, sticking to its distinct stylized look.
  • Spelunky: Features characters in a 3D world, different from the 2D sprites of the game.
  • The Outer Worlds: Obsidian's sci-fi RPG, possibly following a young Phineas Vernon Welles.
  • Unreal Tournament: Focuses on a battle within the titular tournament.
  • Warhammer 40,000: Focuses on characters from the upcoming Space Marine 2.

That's all we know about the episodes so far. The trailer gives us a general tone of the project, but specific details are still scarce.

I'm most curious about the PlayStation Studios episode. Seeing Kratos and Jin in a crossover episode is exciting, but I hope they dive deep into the PlayStation catalog.
