Whistleblower Lawsuit Details
The lawsuit was filed by Emil Aliyev, Xsolla's former VP of global accounting. Aliyev alleges he discovered a $40 million discrepancy in two accounts in May 2023. He further claims that he found the missing funds in a Goldman Sachs account belonging to Xsolla founder, Aleksandr Agapitov.
Aliyev also alleges that Xsolla has not passed an IRS audit since 2017. He claims that he was unlawfully terminated after reporting these issues.

Aliyev asserts that he was unjustly dismissed after a meeting with Agapitov where he expressed his concerns about the transactions. Aliyev believes these transactions violated finance rules.
Xsolla claims that Aliyev was fired for violating company policy, but has not specified which policy. Aliyev and Xsolla have not yet responded to requests for comment.
Previous Controversies Involving Xsolla
Xsolla has faced prior controversies. In 2021, Agapitov, the company's co-founder, fired 150 employees for spending too much time on their emails. He even claimed to use AI surveillance to monitor employee productivity.

Earlier this month, Ukraine requested Epic, Ubisoft, and Valve to sever ties with Xsolla. They allege that the company's business in Russia is funding the ongoing war in the country. Xsolla's interim CEO, Chris Hewish, stated that the company had relocated hundreds of employees out of Russia, but still facilitates transactions for players there.
