First Look at Ghost of Ytei
Ghost of Ytei takes on the feel of a Western in its first trailer. The game is set in 1603 and introduces us to Atsu, a wandering female samurai. She embarks on a journey through lush valleys, dense autumn forests, and snowy fields, seeking justice and possibly revenge.
The trailer opens with a mysterious voice saying, "People come to the North to disappear." Soon after, we see Atsu in action, dual-wielding swords and accompanied by her loyal wolf. The visuals are stunning, showcasing sprawling grasslands and snowy tundras.
A New Setting and Story
Unlike the original game, which focused on a land under siege from a foreign invader, Ghost of Ytei offers a more freeform experience. The setting is outside the rule of Japan, filled with unexpected dangers and beautiful landscapes.
Andrew Goldfarb, Sucker Punch's comms manager, shared on the PlayStation Blog that this new area is a far cry from the organized samurai clans of Tsushima. It's a fresh start with a new cast of characters and a vast new map to explore.
