Microtransactions: Not Part of the Plan

In an interview with the South Korean gaming community Ruliweb, Shift Up's CEO Kim Hyeong-tae confirmed that microtransactions aren't part of the game's design. When you purchase Stellar Blade from the PlayStation store, what you see is what you get. However, there might be other DLC in the future, such as a potential paid expansion.

Stellar Blade: No Hidden Costs

Kim Hyeong-tae also clarified that there won't be any hidden costs when purchasing Stellar Blade. The game might have additional costumes for Eve that are collaborations with other IPs, but if they do happen, they may come at an extra cost.

Microtransactions in Games Today

It's refreshing to hear that Stellar Blade won't include microtransactions, as many games do these days. Single-player games like Dragon’s Dogma 2, Street Fighter 6, Tekken 8, and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla all include microtransactions. Thankfully, Shift Up isn't the only developer to publicly renounce them. CD Projekt Red, the developer of Cyberpunk 2077, also recently stated that they don't see a place for microtransactions in single-player games.
