During the recent Xbox Partner Preview showcase, SEGA's Atlus made an exciting announcement about Persona 3 Reload. They revealed that the original game’s add-on epilogue, Episode Aigis, will be available as DLC through an expansion pass.

The expansion pass, priced at $34.99, will offer two additional waves of DLC including background music sets and costumes based on other games in the series. However, this announcement triggered some skepticism and anger among fans who believed that the nearly 20-year-old expansion should have been included in the Persona 3 Reload to make it a complete game.

Why Episode Aigis is Arriving as DLC
Kazuhisa Wada, the series producer, explained why Episode Aigis is being released as DLC. In an interview with Famitsu, Wada shared that the Persona team had initially planned to include Episode Aigis from the start, but various challenges prevented it from becoming a reality, leading to the epilogue being dropped. However, upon the game's announcement at Summer Game Fest last year, fans' feedback led to the revival of the epilogue during the development of Persona 3 Reload.
Directorial Changes and Overhauls
Despite the workload, the Persona team managed to adapt. When a directorial role opened up, Yu Hazushime, known for his work on Soul Hackers 2 and Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE, stepped in to direct Episode Aigis. Hazushime is currently overseeing a complete overhaul of the project, with adjustments being made to suit the current era, while preserving the fundamentals of the scenarios.
Limited Possibilities for Future Inclusions
Despite fan feedback leading to Episode Aigis' inclusion in Persona 3 Reload, Wada has dismissed the possibility of adding the female protagonist from Persona 3 Portable. He expressed regret but explained that the development would have taken too long. According to Wada, the team is also responsible for developing completely new works, which means they had to limit the amount of work done on Persona 3 Reload.
