Final Fantasy XVI: PC Release Date may be Soon

The latest installment in Square Enix's legendary RPG series, Final Fantasy XVI, was released in June of the previous year for PS5. However, PC players are still eagerly waiting for their chance to play the game.

Producer Naoki Yoshida has hinted that the wait might end soon. In a recent interview with Game Informer, Yoshida revealed that the PC version of the game is nearing the final stages of optimization.

Originally announced back in September 2023, the PC version of FF16 hasn't made any official appearances in the subsequent months. Instead, the FF16 team has been focusing on its two pieces of post-release DLC.

The first DLC, Echoes of the Fallen, was released in December, while the second, The Rising Tide, is set to release this spring.

FF16 had a six-month exclusivity period on PS5 that ended in January, so fans have been eagerly waiting for a release date for the PC port.

PC Release Date Dependent on Optimization

Yoshida did not provide a specific release date to Game Informer, stating that the release is contingent on the duration of the optimization process. This optimization includes determining the system requirements for players, which Yoshida mentioned are "looking to be somewhat high".

Game journalist Wesley LeBlanc has speculated on social media that the PC version might be ready around FF16's one year anniversary this June.

This seems plausible as it would give the developers ample time to release the second and final piece of DLC for the game this spring and offer a complete edition for both PS5 and PC around its anniversary.

When the game finally gets a release date for PC, Yoshida assures players that a demo for the game will be available so they can ensure their system can run the game.
