What You Need to Know Before Diving into Enotria: The Last Song

Enotria: The Last Song is a sunny soulslike game that brings an unusual sense of joy to the genre. However, don't let the bright visuals fool you; there's plenty of dark and challenging gameplay beneath the surface. If you're diving into this game, your skills will be tested, especially during the confusing opening hours. Here are eight essential tips to help you get started.

Equip Your Perks

The perks you unlock in Enotria's Path of Innovators aren't automatically applied. You have a set number of perk slots on each mask you equip. You'll need to manually equip your perks on each loadout.

You can do this at any reality thread, the game's version of bonfires. Be sure to swap them around when you buy powerful new options from the Path of Innovators.

The Preparedness Perk

The Preparedness perk is available from the beginning and provides a fantastic passive ability. With this perk equipped, you'll Unravel enemies slightly when dodging their attacks.

This is especially useful early in your adventure. A well-timed dodge can stun weak foes, opening them up for a critical attack that drains their health.

Fast Travel from the Start

Unlike many soulslike titles, Enotria: The Last Song offers fast travel between reality knots from the very beginning. This allows you to revisit previously explored areas with ease.

Take advantage of this feature to tackle difficult areas again with more experience and levels under your belt.

Farm Crabs for XP

Early in the game, you'll encounter crab enemies that are an excellent source of Memoria XP. Each kill grants 40 Memoria, and they have a decent chance of dropping Valuable Shells, which can be used to gain 2000 Memoria at once.

To farm these crabs, fast travel to the Shores of Quinta reality thread. Turn around from where you spawn and head into the beach cave behind you. Slay the crabs and hope for a Valuable Shell, then repeat as necessary.

Parry Ranged Attacks

Pesky archers are scattered throughout Enotria: The Last Song. If you can time their shots, you can parry them. Parrying arrows will automatically Unravel the archers, allowing you to approach for a one-shot kill.

Prepare for the First Major Boss

The game's first major boss, Curtis, isn't overwhelmingly difficult, but he hits hard. A few missed dodges or parries can put you in a bad spot.

Aim to have around 20 points in your Bruiser stat for health and defense, 20 points in your damage stat of choice, and a weapon leveled to at least 3 before facing him. Farm crabs for Valuable Shells if you need more Memoria.

Refund Weapon Upgrade Materials

Don't worry about materials used on early weapon upgrades. If you find a better weapon later, head to an anvil and enter the weapon upgrade menu. Select Refund to get all materials back for use on another weapon.

Note that Memoria invested won't be refunded, but it's more plentiful later in the game.

Respec Your Character

Design your character's stats to suit your early game build, but don't fret over mistakes. You'll find an NPC later in the game who allows you to respec. This lets you fix stat spread mistakes or completely reevaluate your build.

Good luck in the beautiful but dangerous world of Enotria: The Last Song. You're going to need it!
