PlayStation State of Play Highlights: What You Need to Know
PlayStation's latest State of Play presentation was packed with exciting announcements and updates. From new game trailers to updates on existing favorites, there was something for everyone. Let's dive into the highlights of the show and see what PlayStation has in store for us.
Astro Bot
The show kicked off with a trailer for Astro Bot, which is getting a free update. This update includes new speedrun levels and character cameos from Helldivers and Stellar Blade. The update will be available this fall.
The Midnight Walk
Next up was The Midnight Walk, a clay stop-motion styled horror game from Moon Hood Studios. The game will be available on PlayStation 5 and PSVR2.
Hell Is Us

Two classic PlayStation RPGs are coming to PS5 and PS4 in spring 2025. The Lunar Remastered Collection includes Lunar: The Silver Star Story Complete and Lunar: Eternal Blue Complete with updated visuals and widescreen mode.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge
A new update for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge was announced. The Radical Reptiles DLC adds new playable characters Mondo Gecko and Mona Lisa. The game is also getting a remixed soundtrack with several guest composers. Both additions are available today.
Sonic X Shadow Generations
Keanu Reeves is voicing Shadow the Hedgehog in a post-launch update for Sonic X Shadow Generations. This update will launch on December 12 and features levels based on the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie.
Fantasian Neo Dimension
Fantasian Neo Dimension brings back the RPG vibe. Producer Hironobu Sakaguchi showcased the game's turn-based battle system and highlighted the soundtrack composed by Final Fantasy legend Nobuo Uematsu. The game launches on December 5 on PlayStation 4 and 5.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard
BioWare showed new footage of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, spotlighting Taash, the Qunari companion, and a boss fight with a dragon. The game launches on October 31.
Alan Wake II
A trailer for Alan Wake II's The Lake House expansion was shown. It's spooky and coming in October.
Hitman: World of Assassination
Hitman: World of Assassination is coming to PSVR2 in December, bringing the beloved franchise into virtual reality.
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered is bringing the classic PlayStation games to PS4 and PS5 on December 10.
Fear the Spotlight
Fear the Spotlight, Blumhouse's upcoming horror game, is coming to PS4 and PS5 on October 22.
Towers of Aghasba
Towers of Aghasba is an island-building game coming to early access in November.
Lego Fortnite
Epic announced a split-screen mode for Lego Fortnite to support local play on one system. Preorders for an ugly Fortnite DualSense controller go live on October 3.
Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Koei Tecmo confirmed that Dynasty Warriors: Origins will launch on January 17.
Monster Hunter Wilds
Capcom showcased a new trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds, featuring a fight with a giant sea creature, a giant bear, and some dancing little guys. The game launches on February 28.
The Horizon Showcase
Horizon got a big spotlight with a new trailer for Lego Horizon Adventures and the rumored Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered. The remastered version will launch on October 31, with an upgrade option for owners of the original PS4 version.
Stellar Blade
Stellar Blade is getting a photo mode update available today. The game's soundtrack is also available on streaming services, and a Nier collaboration is coming later this year.
PlayStation Plus Updates
New games are coming to PlayStation Plus, including the Dead Space remake, Doki Doki Literature Club, and WWE 2K24. Classic games like Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain and Dino Crisis will be added to the Classic Collection later this year. The Last of Us Part I will join the PlayStation Plus game catalog on September 26.
New DualSense Controllers and Console Covers
Sony showed off new DualSense controllers and console covers, including an Indigo Pearl and Teal set. Preorders go live on October 3.
PlayStation 5 Pro Updates
Sony system architect Mark Cerny discussed the PlayStation 5 Pro and its updated tech. A list of games that will be enhanced for the system was also provided.
