On October 28, San Francisco police arrested 43-year-old David Depape after he broke into the home of a former U.S. House Speaker. Instead of finding the politician, he encountered her spouse, Paul. Depape reportedly attacked Paul with a hammer after inquiring about his wife's whereabouts.

Despite suffering from multiple hand injuries and a fractured skull, Paul managed to call 911. The police arrived in time to arrest the attacker and transport Paul to the hospital.

Depape's Motive Behind the Attack

During his court appearance on Tuesday, Depape claimed that he wanted to discuss corruption and the alleged Russian involvement in the 2016 election with the former U.S. House Speaker. He further testified that he planned to "break her kneecaps" if she lied.

Depape admitted in court that he spent up to six hours a day playing video games while listening to multiple political podcasts.
