Assassin's Creed Shadows Launches on Steam Day-One
Exciting news for gamers! Ubisoft is making a big change by bringing its new games to Steam on day one. This includes the much-anticipated "Assassin's Creed Shadows," which will launch in February 2025. Ubisoft had previously kept its games off Steam for months after release, but that's all about to change.
Ubisoft's New Strategy
Ubisoft announced that "Assassin's Creed Shadows" will be available on Steam from day one. This marks a significant shift in their strategy. For years, Ubisoft games were delayed on Steam, but not anymore.
Along with "Assassin's Creed Shadows," the upcoming "Star Wars Outlaws" will also be available on Steam starting November 21. This is great news for PC gamers who prefer Steam as their go-to platform.
Why the Change?
Back in 2019, Ubisoft criticized Steam's model and chose not to launch "The Division 2" on Valve’s service. Since then, most Ubisoft games skipped Steam. However, in recent years, Ubisoft started to publish its games on the platform again.
For example, "Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora" arrived on Steam just six months after its launch. This indicated a shift in Ubisoft's strategy, which is now official.
What About Ubisoft Connect?
Don't get too excited about ditching Ubisoft Connect just yet. While Ubisoft games will be available on Steam from day one, you'll still need to install Ubisoft Connect and set up an account to play them.
This means that even though you can buy and launch the games on Steam, Ubisoft Connect will still be part of the process.
