Death Stranding 2: A Sneak Peek into the Sequel

Another trailer for the much-anticipated sequel, Death Stranding 2 On The Beach, has been unveiled by Kojima Productions during the January 31 Playstation State of Play. The sequel was initially introduced by the company's founder, Hideo Kojima, at last year's Game Awards.

A Glimpse into the New Trailer

In the latest trailer, familiar characters from the previous game are seen exploring a vast, new ship. Sam, the lead character portrayed by Norman Reedus, is again seen bridging connections between people. This time, he is accompanied by a peculiar talking puppet, animated in stop-motion style.

Plot Twists and Turns

"Humanity is still in danger. Still on the brink of extinction," warns Fragile from the first game. Planet Earth appears to be facing severe challenges, and Sam is now collaborating with a new group called Drawbridge that aids people outside of the United Cities of America (UCA).

Death Stranding 2 continues Sam's journey with Troy Baker returning as the antagonist, Higgs Monaghan. Also joining the cast is Elle Fanning, a newcomer to the series. Higgs, who has returned from the dead, seeks vengeance on those who killed him.

Remembering the Original Death Stranding

Players spent hours observing protagonist Sam in the original Death Stranding, laden with heavy packages. Despite this, the game was not a straightforward commentary on the gig economy. Kojima's 2019 open-world action game—his first after 2015's Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, and the inaugural title of Kojima Productions, was a cargo-laden epic.

The World of Death Stranding

Death Stranding is set in an alternative future where most of the world has been devastated by a catastrophic event called the Death Stranding. The world is fragmented into a few remaining cities and pioneer outposts. These are connected by delivery services, helmed by couriers who brave the expansive wasteland and infiltrate enemy territory to deliver essential supplies to the few remaining humans.

Sam is one such vital courier, who spends most of the game navigating through snow and challenging mountains, and getting entangled in a political quagmire along the way.
