Like a Dragon: A Unique Twist on the RPG Genre
Contrary to popular belief, Like a Dragon wasn't born out of an April Fool's joke by Sega. This quirky change from an action beat-'em-up to a turn-based RPG has been just as amusing as the false origin story. Ichiban Kasuga, our new protagonist, finds himself in a variety of predicaments in Yokohama. With the assistance of his new companions, he alters Japan's criminal underworld forever.
A Fresh Approach to the Job System
There are many reasons to enjoy Like A Dragon, but perhaps the most notable is the job system. Unlike the traditional RPGs that feature mages and paladins, this game allows you to make a character a chef or a dominatrix, among other things. Each role comes with its own outfit, skills, and weaponry. As I prepare for the upcoming sequel, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, set to be released on January 26, I'm revisiting the story. This time, Ichiban and Kazuma Kiryu, the longtime series lead, embark on new adventures in Hawaii. Meanwhile, I'm back in Yokohama, beating up goons with "adult novelties" and expanding my rice cracker empire.
