Sephiroth's Unforgettable Appearance in Kingdom Hearts
In the Olympus Coliseum's Platinum Match, Kingdom Hearts fans were treated to a surprise encounter with the infamous Sephiroth. The silver-haired antagonist from Final Fantasy VII made a memorable entrance, turning towards the camera for a dramatic reveal.
A Shared Experience of Frustration
During a recent get-together with friends, we found ourselves discussing games that pushed us to the brink of frustration. Among the usual suspects were FromSoft games like Dark Souls and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, along with Cuphead, Ninja Gaiden, and Super Meat Boy. However, none have incited as much Gamer Rage™ in me as Kingdom Hearts, specifically due to Sephiroth's ruthless difficulty.
The Challenge of Sephiroth in Kingdom Hearts
Sephiroth, the silver-haired prince of evil from Final Fantasy VII, presents a significant challenge in the 2002 action-RPG Kingdom Hearts. This optional boss fight is notorious for causing hair-pulling, controller-breaking frustration among players.
The Olympus Coliseum Showdown
For those brave enough to face this challenge, the Olympus Coliseum offers a series of rounds designed to test your skills against the game’s fiercest baddies. The final battle, known as the Platinum Match, pits you against Sephiroth in a one-on-one showdown.
The Unforgiving Battle
The battle starts off manageable, but Sephiroth's strength quickly becomes apparent. His ability to whittle down Sora’s life bar to mere pixels in two or three hits is a source of frustration for many players. To add insult to injury, this battle is a solo fight, meaning no support from Donald or Goofy.
Sephiroth's Second Phase
The battle becomes even more challenging when Sephiroth reaches half health. He begins sprinting, flying, and teleporting around the arena. His spells become stronger, his attacks more frequent, and his Masamune seems to take up the entire length of the arena. He can even summon meteors and orbs that home in on the player.
