My excitement for this movie is not necessarily because I believe it will be a masterpiece. Instead, it's the introduction of Shadow the Hedgehog, arguably the best character in the franchise, that has me eagerly waiting.

Paramount has stirred up my feelings of excitement and existential dread by releasing a tantalizing glimpse of Shadow on set. However, they've only revealed his feet, leaving fans in suspense.

The photo includes a stand-in statue of Shadow, which is used during filming to guide live-action actors on where to direct their lines before the characters are dubbed by voice actors.

Earlier set photos from Sonic the Hedgehog 2's production showed similar statues of Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles, suggesting that Shadow's arrival on set is imminent.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3: A Nod to Sonic Adventure 2?

Observant fans have noticed that the logo of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 closely resembles that of Sonic Adventure 2. Shadow made his first appearance in Sonic Adventure 2, which was released on Dreamcast in 2001.

While the plot of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is still largely unknown, it seems to draw inspiration from Sonic Adventure 2, especially considering the discovery of Shadow in the post-credits scene of the second movie.
