On July 17, Xbox kicked off its massive Summer Sale which includes nearly 1000 discounted games.

As part of this large sale, nearly every mainline Call of Duty game is currently marked down on Xbox's digital store.

Activision's Call of Duty franchise was one of the big reasons Microsoft spent $69 billion to acquire the company.

It's not surprising that the popular shooters are part of the Xbox Summer Sale.

What is surprising is that some of these games are still pretty dang expensive considering their age.

It's wild to me that Call of Duty 2, an Xbox 360 launch game approaching 20 years old, is still normally sold for $20.

Also, Call of Duty Classic, an HD Xbox 360-era port of the original game, isn't part of this sale and neither is the recently released Modern Warfare 3.

So it's only most of the franchise.

Also, strangely, MW2 Remastered isn't on sale either.

Call of Duty Games on Sale

Here are the Call of Duty games currently on sale:

  • Call of Duty World at War: $10 (was $20)
  • Call of Duty Black Ops: $15 (was $30)
  • Call of Duty Black Ops 2: $15 (was $50)
  • Call of Duty Black Ops 3: $20 (was $60)
  • Call of Duty Black Ops 4: $20 (was $60)
  • Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War: $25 (was $70)

The entire Modern Warfare franchise, minus the previously mentioned exceptions, is on sale via Xbox's Summer Sale too.

It will cost you $110 to pick all of them up:

  • Call of Duty Modern Warfare (2019): $20 (was $60)
  • Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 (2022): $35 (was $70)
  • Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare: $10 (was $20)
  • Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2: $10 (was $20)
  • Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3: $15 (was $30)
  • Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered: $20 (was $40)

Finally, here are the rest of the Call of Duty games currently on sale on Xbox's digital store:

  • Call of Duty WWII: $20 (was $60)
  • Call of Duty 2: $10 (was $20)
  • Call of Duty 3: $10 (was $20)
  • Call of Duty Vanguard: $28 (was $70)
  • Call of Duty Infinite Warfare: $20 (was $60)
  • Call of Duty Ghosts: $20 (was $60)
  • Call of Duty Advanced Warfare: $20 (was $60)

Add it all up and it will cost you $343 to purchase every Call of Duty game currently on sale.

Normally, all of these games would cost $860, so it's a pretty solid discount even if I think some of the older games should be marked down even more.

Of course, the real question is if Game Pass subscribers should even buy these games.

I think there's a significant chance in the future that most, if not all, of these Call of Duty games arrive on Game Pass.

Especially as Microsoft plans to raise the price of the service soon.

Last year, work was done by Activision and Xbox to make sure these games were playable again online.

This seems like more evidence they might arrive on Game Pass one day.

But for now, if you want to relive 2009 and play some MW3 at midnight while drinking Red Bull, Xbox's Summer Sale is currently offering a cheap way to return to those glory days.
