Exciting News for Stardew Valley Players

Players of the popular farming simulation game, Stardew Valley, have been eagerly waiting for the considerable 1.6 update. The update, first hinted at by the game's developer, ConcernedApe, is finally set to release today, March 19.

What to Expect from the 1.6 Update

Although the exact release time for the 1.6 update remains unknown, it's anticipated to launch at some point today. Based on past updates, it's likely to happen around 11 a.m. PDT / 2 p.m. EDT. In a recent response on social media, ConcernedApe stated the update would occur when they woke up the following day.

In the week leading up to the 1.6 update, ConcernedApe has been releasing a single patch note per day. The first of these notes, released on March 11, revealed that fruit trees would now yield the correct fruit sapling. Here are some of the other patch notes we have so far:

• Fixed a bug where harvesting was faster from left-to-right than right-to-left
• Extended the area of effect for downward facing melee attacks
• Reduced the necessary time to push against a pet before they start shaking and then let you pass through them
• Added a honeymoon period for spouses that lasts seven days during which they will not lay in bed all day due to being upset
• Jelly, pickles, wines, and juices now change color based on the ingredient used to make the item
• You can now drink mayonnaise (although, should you?)
• Added the new Meadowlands Farm type, which includes chewy blue grass for animals to graze on in addition to starting with a coop and 2 chickens

Important Note for Stardew Valley Players

The March 19 release applies to the PC, Mac, and Linux versions of the game. Mobile and console versions will receive the update at a later, yet unannounced, date. It's important for players using mods to be aware that the new update may not work as intended with installed mods. ConcernedApe has created a public steam branch that will remain on version 1.5.6 for players who prefer, and recommends trying 1.6 without mods first.
