Next Stop Paris: A TCL Original
On April 12, TCL premiered the first trailer for "Next Stop Paris", their debut original production. The company describes it as a "short romance movie" set to be available later this Summer on TCLtv+, a free streaming service launched in August 2023.
Interestingly, the film was created using a "global production team" consisting of animators, VFX experts, and AI engineers. The script, however, was not AI-generated, but was penned by TCL's Chief Content Officer and Chief Creative Officer.
The Downside of AI
The trailer for "Next Stop Paris" leaves much to be desired. The teaser introduces the main characters—a man and a woman who meet on a train ride to Paris—whose faces seem to change from shot to shot, resulting in a confusing visual narrative.
Furthermore, the views of Paris depicted in the trailer are far from impressive, with distorted buildings, smears posing as boats, and a rather unrecognizable Eiffel Tower.
