Steam has once again shattered its record for the most concurrent PC players, reaching an incredible 38,366,479 players on September 22, 2024. This new milestone surpasses the previous record set last month, driven by the release of the game Black Myth: Wukong.
What's Behind the Surge?
The usual heavy-hitters were in the top 10 most-played games on Valve's platform. These included Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, and PUBG. Black Myth: Wukong, Satisfactory 1.0, Space Marine 2, and Valve's Deadlock also contributed to the high player count.
Recently launched PlayStation exclusives, God of War Ragnarok and Final Fantasy XVI, also played a part in boosting these numbers as they debuted on Steam.
