In recent years, Call of Duty games have been causing frustration among fans due to a prompt asking them to restart the game because of an update. This message usually pops up before the main menu appears. For console players, this restart may only take a few seconds, but PC players might have to wait a minute or more. This issue has been ongoing since 2020 and continues to be a problem in Modern Warfare III and the Warzone spin-off. The message has become a meme within the CoD community. Activision is ready to laugh at itself and make some money off of it.

When you inspect the weapon, you witness your soldier bringing the SMG up to their face, trying to log into Call of Duty by pressing a button, and then being greeted with the annoying update prompt. The soldier then smashes the gun in frustration, likely mirroring the reaction of many CoD players.

While I'm not a Call of Duty player anymore, it's refreshing to see the franchise, usually so serious, poke fun at itself. The Arcade Rhythm SMG comes with a cool pixel-death effect that essentially de-rezzes everyone you kill, Tron style, and even features pixelated muzzle smoke, a neat touch.
