Top New Pokémon TCG Cards You Need from Mythical Island

The arrival of Mew and its Mythical Island special set in Pokémon TCG Pocket brings some exciting new cards to the game. These cards are designed to shake up the current meta and add variety to the decks players use in their battles. With 68 new options, there's plenty to explore and experiment with until the full new set arrives in January. Let's dive into the best new cards and how they can enhance your gameplay.

Grass Decks

Grass decks are getting a boost with nine new cards. Exeggcute and Exeggutor are standout additions, allowing you to add two energy each turn to power up Exeggutor's 80 attack. This combo is a great counter for decks relying on Lapras or Blastoise.

Celebi ex offers a 50x attack with a coin flip for every energy attached. Meanwhile, the Stage 2 Serperior has an ability called Jungle Totem that doubles the effect of every Grass energy attached to your cards. Combine these with Exeggutor or Celebi, and you're set for success.

Fire Decks

Fire decks see minor enhancements with seven new cards. Ponyta and Rapidash have improved attacks, and Salandit and Salazzle now feature poison attacks. Volcarona stands out with its ability to deal 80 damage to any opponent Pokémon of your choice, though it discards two of the three energy it requires.

Electric Decks

Electric decks introduce six new cards, including a new Pikachu with an attack that deals 10 damage per benched monster. The new Raichu is more powerful, dealing 60 damage to the opponent's active Pokémon and 20 to everything on the bench. This can be devastating against Water decks.

Psychic Decks

Psychic decks, already powerful, gain even more strength with ten new cards. Mew ex mimics any attack of the opponent's active card, using three Normal energy. Beheeyem adds 20 damage for every card the opponent has benched, making it a formidable option.

Fighting Decks

Fighting decks get eight new additions, with Golem dealing 120 damage and reducing the next attack by 30. Aerodactyl ex disrupts opponents by preventing them from evolving their active Pokémon, adding a strategic twist to the game.

Dark Decks

Dark decks introduce Weezing, which deals 50 damage and forces a coin flip to determine if the opponent's next attack can proceed. This makes Dark decks excellent for frustrating opponents.

Dragon Decks

Dragon decks remain limited in options but feature a new Druddigon that hits for 90 damage and retaliates with 20 damage when hit. It's a small but potent addition for those daring enough to try multi-energy strategies.

Normal Decks

Normal decks offer disruption with six new cards. Stage 2 Pigeot ex deals 80 damage plus 20 for each card on the opponent's bench. Tauros joins with Fighting Tackle, dealing extra damage to ex Pokémon.

Water Decks

Water decks, already strong, gain even more power with eight new cards. Gyarados ex and Vaporeon with its Wash Out ability make these decks formidable. This allows for flexible energy movement, enhancing the power of Water ex cards.

Trainer Cards

Five new Trainer cards, including Mythical Slab and Trainer Blue, offer strategic advantages. Budding Expedition and Pokémon Flute provide unique tactical options, adding depth to gameplay.
